A price war has already started, before the Nintendo 3DS has even been released.
Until recently, prices online for pre orders were fairly standard
however, a price drop has been announced by UK retail giant Tesco,
offering the best price to buy Nintendo 3DS in the UK at just below £200 after it was originally thought it would be at least £229.
The US price is still around $250 and Australia is looking at still about $350.
There have been a number of complaints about the difference in price.
In particular, the extra $100 for Australians (our dollars are the same
at the moment). The trouble is, we Autralians just don’t have the
market that the Americans do and as a result, we end up paying a lot
more.
The crazy thing is, because they are region locked, we can’t just
order one online unless you’re prepared to always buy your games online
from the same region your console came from. This is definitely an
option but might get a bit frustrating when you see Nintendo 3DS games
on sale at your local video game shop and can’t buy it because your
Nintendo 3DS console is from a different region.
